There once was a criminal who was taken to the King for punishment for the crime he committed. The criminal was given two options: he could be hung by a rope or take what’s behind the big, dark, scary, mysterious door. The criminal quickly decided on the rope. While he was about to be hung, he turned to the King and asked out of curiosity what’s behind the door. The King smiled and said, “Freedom.” He continued saying that he gave these options to every culprit who were brought to him for their mistakes. But everyone chose rope as they were scared to choose the door. They were scared of the UNKNOWN.
Fear is such a paralyzed feeling right? If criminal had overcome his fear of unknown and chosen the door, he would be freed. But he choose death instead. It’s not his crime but fear that killed him.
The fear of facing our fears is harder to overcome than the fear itself.

Everyone will have fear of something or someone in their life. Fear is an unpleasant dangerous feeling which you develop early in life. It starts as a small feeling in you and grows into a huge monster as you grow older. And that monster grows stronger day by day. It becomes strong by making you weak. Your weakness is its strength. Eventually, this huge monster becomes your biggest weakness. Yes, fear turns out to be your weakness!!
The fear that you develop as a child will remain in you for lifetime. The only way to overcome fear is by facing it. It’s a negative emotion which closes your door to success and kill your dreams. It takes away the opportunities that you have in your life because you are scared to take chance and go forward. The fears that you don’t face become your limits.
“Everything you’ve ever wanted is on the other side of fear.” – George Addair
As I said earlier, the only way to become fearless is to overcome that fear. And how do you overcome? By doing what you fear. Do the thing that you fear to kill that fear. It is such a satisfied feeling when you do something that you thought you could never do. The feeling of achievement!! That feeling which brings confidence in you. That feeling which make you challenge your own limits. That feeling of exploring yourself. That feeling which tells you how strong you are. This happens only when you take chance to see what is on the other side of fear.

Start by challenging small fears. Take one step at once. This will slowly build confidence in you to face bigger fears. Fear is like a mask. Whatever you see through that mask appears scary. You will not know what is on the other side. Remove that mask. See it with clarity and face it with courage.
“You must do the thing you think you cannot do.” – Eleanor Roosevelt
Fear is not real. It is the product of thoughts you create. These thoughts create an illusion in you. An illusion which makes you believe that everything you see around are scary. This is an extreme level of fear. If you reach this level, it becomes very difficult to come out of it. So knock the fear down before it knocks you down. Fear is a learnt thing. It’s not an in-built quality of a person. If you can learn fear then you can unlearn fear as well.
“Fears are nothing more than a state of mind.” – Napolean Hill

A small girl from a small town who was extremely afraid of dark. Every night when the lights were out and she went to bed, everything and every shadow around her appeared to her as the most terrible of the monsters. Her parents explained and tried to make her understand very patiently. She could understand what her parents are saying but she could not stop feeling an awful fear whenever it was dark.
One day her aunt came to visit. She was a very brave woman. The small girl asked her whether she was afraid of anything in her life. Her aunt said that she was afraid of dark when she was young and she overcame her fear. The girl also wanted to conquer her fear so she asked her aunt about how to overcome her fear. Her aunt gave her the instructions.
It was night and her parents took her to bed. Lights went out and she was afraid of one of the shadows in the bedroom. She summoned all her courage, closed her eyes and went over to touch that mysterious shadow. Next morning she came running to kitchen with a smile and told her aunt, “the monster is so soft and smooth… it’s my teddy bear.”
Unless you don’t take a step to change the way you look at the world, nothing will change in your life. Be courageous. Be the change. Transform for good.
